Understanding High Email Campaign Bounce Rates
Last updated: September 23, 2026
If you notice unusually high bounce rates in your email campaign metrics, there are several potential causes to investigate:
Common Causes of High Bounce Rates
Outdated or invalid email addresses in your prospect list
Email verification not enabled in workspace settings for enriched prospect emails
Email server configuration issues
Prospects marked as "paused" in the system
Temporary delivery issues with recipient email servers
How the System Handles Bounced Emails
The system automatically suppresses bounced email addresses to prevent future delivery attempts. Once an email bounces, that address will never be contacted again, regardless of your email validation settings.
Prospects → Statistics → Bounced Emails - View overall bounce statistics
Campaign Statistics → Bounced Emails - See bounce counts for specific campaigns
Inbox Filters → Statistics + Bounce Rate - View all conversations where bounces occurred
Bounced emails appear with a Failed status in the interface
What to Do
Check your prospect list status - verify that your prospects are not marked as "paused" in the system
Review your email list quality:
Remove any obviously invalid email addresses
Verify the format of email addresses
Consider using an email verification service
If bounce rates remain unusually high after these checks, contact our support team for further investigation
Note: Enable the "Verify prospect's emails before sending" toggle in your workspace settings to automatically validate enriched prospect emails before sending. The system automatically suppresses bounced addresses to prevent future delivery attempts. If you see unexpectedly high bounce rates even with verification enabled, or if many prospects are showing as "paused," check Prospects → Statistics → Bounced Emails to review bounce data, or contact support for assistance.
