Web Visitors: Turn Anonymous Visits Into Prospects

Updated this week

In today's digital landscape, knowing who and when visits your website is more crucial than ever. That’s why we're thrilled to introduce our brand-new feature, Web Visitors. This tool empowers you to gain deeper insights into who’s visiting your site and when. By simply integrating a small tracking snippet into your website code, you'll be able to match visitor data with our internal prospect databases and add the prospects into your campaign.

Keep in mind that we only collect data from visitors based in the USA.

In this article, we’ll walk you through how to set up Web Visitors and explain how it works behind the scenes.

❗️Before you start using Web Visitors, please take a moment to review the compliance guidelines below to ensure responsible use of the data collected through this feature:

Additionally, please note that this feature is currently in beta.

Creating You First Tracker

Web Visitors lives in the Prospects tab of your workspace.

To create your first tracker:

  1. Go to Prospects > Web Visitors > + New Tracker.

2. You’ll see a short introduction explaining how Web Visitors works. Click Got it to continue.

3. A new window will appear with your tracker code — this is what collects visitor data from your website.

  • Give your tracker a name for easy reference.

4. Click How to insert for step-by-step instructions based on where your site is hosted.

If you’re using a standard HTML page, here’s an example of where to insert the code in your file:

Once you’ve added the code to your site, go back to Buzz and click Save.

Your tracker will now be created and activated! The prospects will start being added in 24 hours.

From here, you can view and manage all your trackers in one place.

Managing Your Web Visitor Trackers

To access and manage your trackers, go to Prospects > Web Visitors.

Any tracker you create is tied to the Social Account it was created from in Buzz. Remember this if you manage multiple Buzz seats.

Here’s what you can do with each tracker:

  • Toggle On/Off: Activate or deactivate a tracker.

  • View Prospects: Click Show under Prospects Collected to see the list of everyone tracked by that code.

  • Check Details: See who created the tracker and when it was added.

  • More Actions: Click the three-dot menu to Edit or Delete a tracker.

  • Click on the row to access the tracker details.

Deleting a tracker only removes the tracker itself — your collected prospects will remain safely stored in your prospect base.

When you click Edit, you’ll open this section:

Here, you can:

  • Rename your tracker;

  • Activate or deactivate it;

  • Retrieve the code snippet (if you want to reinstall it later);

  • Delete the tracker.

How to Use Web Visitors as a Search Type

When creating a new campaign, you can select one or more of your active Web Visitors trackers. Buzz will automatically pull in the prospects collected by those trackers and include them in your campaign outreach.

To do this:

  1. Create a new campaign.

  2. Add a new Search.

  3. Choose Web Visitors as the search type.

4. From the dropdown list, select the tracker you want to pull prospects from.

Note: Some prospects may not have Social Profile links.

For those, only non-social steps (like Send Email, Enrich Profile or any of the steps from the Other category) will run.

If a prospect reaches a Social step or any of the other steps except those mentioned above without a profile link, they’ll be moved to Pending. From there, you can manually add them to an email-only campaign.

💡 If you use the same Web Visitors tracker across multiple campaigns, Buzz will evenly distribute prospects among them.

Please note that only new, previously unengaged visitors will be added to your campaign after you add the tracker as a search type when setting up the campaign.

If you create and activate the tracker some time before you add it to the campaign, the existing prospects previously collected from the tracker won't be added automatically. You can do it manually by clicking Action > Add to Campaign.

Viewing All Your Web Visitors Prospects

To see every prospect collected by your Web Visitors trackers:

Go to Prospects > Web Visitors.

Here, you can see all the information about your Web Visitors prospects and filter them by:

  • Whether they have a social profile URL;

  • Tracker name;

  • Time period of their website visit.

Click the filter icon to customize your view:

You can also check individual prospect visits directly in their Activity tab in their info card — look for a Web Visitors event like this:

Alternatively, you can filter activity directly in your Dashboard by specific events — in this case, a prospect visiting a URL: Dashboard > Activity > Filters > URL Visited.

This brand-new tool helps you identify potential leads and tailor your outreach more effectively, all within the Buzz platform. Easy to set up and even easier to use, Web Visitors is designed to help you connect the dots and turn website traffic into meaningful business opportunities.
