Spintax, short for “spinning syntax,” refers to the process of creating multiple variations of the same written message by substituting words or phrases with synonyms or alternate expressions that convey the same meaning.
This technique is especially useful for bypassing spam filters, as it generates numerous unique messages that communicate the same idea in dozens or even hundreds of different ways.
Luckily, Buzz simplifies the process of using Spintax, whether you are sending emails or configuring any other text-based step in your campaign. In this guide, we will walk you through how to use Spintax effectively to enhance and personalize your outreach.
How to Format your Spintax Messages
To enable the system to switch between different variations of your message, you need to format your content in a specific way.
In Buzz, Spintax uses square brackets ([ ]) and double pipe characters ( || ) to define alternative options.
Each group of interchangeable words should be enclosed in square brackets, with the options separated by pipes.
For example, if you want to vary the sentence “I want to speak to the sales team,” you can format it like this:
I want to speak to the sales [team || department || division]
This will generate the following variations:
I want to speak to the sales team
I want to speak to the sales department
I want to speak to the sales division
Spintax isn’t limited to individual words; you can also rotate entire phrases. For instance, if you would like to avoid repeating “speak to” in every variation, you can write:
I want to [speak to || talk to || get in touch with] the sales team.
This will produce:
I want to speak to the sales team
I want to talk to the sales team
I want to get in touch with the sales team
How to Use Nested Spintax
Nested Spintax takes things further by allowing multiple parts of a sentence to be spun simultaneously, creating even more unique variations.
For example, you can rewrite “I want to speak to the sales team” like this:
[I want to || I need to || I wish to] [speak to || talk to || get in touch with] [the sales team || the sales department || the sales division]
The above example will produce 27 different outputs, including:
I want to speak to the sales team
I want to get in touch with the sales department
I wish to talk to the sales division
I need to get in touch with the sales department
There’s no limit to how many Spintax blocks you can include in a sentence, giving you incredible flexibility to diversify your messages.
Where to Use Spintax in Buzz
Spintax can be applied to any step in your campaign that includes text content, such as sending a Connection Request, Email, InMail, SMS, or Message. For this example, we will focus on demonstrating how to use Spintax when composing an email.

Note: Spintax can also be used in the subject lines of your emails, helping you stand out in crowded inboxes.
Testing your Spintax
Before sending emails to your prospects, you can preview how the Spintax works by sending a test email. Simply click Send Test and enter the email address where you would like to receive the test message:
Here’s an example of how an email might appear in your prospect’s mailbox:
When your email lands in a recipient’s inbox, it will display a unique variation based on your Spintax input. Each prospect’s email will differ, ensuring no two messages look the same.
By following these guidelines, you can maximize the effectiveness of Spintax and create highly personalized email campaigns that resonate with your audience.
