When creating a campaign in Buzz, you can choose between two types of outreach: Social + Email and Email Only. Each comes with its own flow, profile type logic, and configuration options.
This article breaks down the differences, available settings, and how profile creation behaves in each case.
What Are Social + Email and Email Only Campaigns?
Social + Email
This campaign type uses both the Social Platform and Email for outreach. The sequence can include Connection Requests, Social messages, follow-up emails, etc.
Email Only
This campaign type uses only Email outreach. It's ideal for cold email sequences or when the Social Platform isn't relevant or available for the target audience.
Outreach Steps
The outreach steps available to you will vary depending on the type of campaign you choose.
Steps in Social + Email Campaigns
These campaigns support a combination of Social and email outreach, so you'll have access to the following steps:
Steps in Email Only Campaigns
These campaigns are limited to email outreach, so there are fewer steps available in the sequence:
Note: When selecting the Email Only outreach type, the "Premium only" toggle is removed, as it applies exclusively to Social-based functionality.
Profile Types in Campaigns
Buzz supports two profile types:
Standard Profile (Social Profile)
Created in Social + Email campaigns.
π Deduplicated by Social URL
2. Email Profile
Created in Email Only campaigns.
π Deduplicated by personal/work email
Deduplication means that within a single Social Account (or workspace, if the relevant setting is enabled), only one profile with a unique value can exist:
For Standard Profiles, the unique value is the Social URL.
For Email Profiles, it's the email address (personal or work).
In Social + Email campaigns:
You can have multiple profiles with the same email β this is allowed.
As long as each profile has a unique Social URL (or none at all).
In Email Only campaigns:
Each email must be unique.
Social URLs may repeat or be missing β they are ignored by the system.

Important Notes on Profile Behavior
The campaign type only affects the profile type at the moment of creation. Once created, a profile keeps its type, even if moved to another campaign.
You can:
Change the campaign type later β but it wonβt change existing profile types;
Manually move profiles between campaigns β their type stays the same.
π If you want to add the same prospect to both a Social + Email campaign and an Email Only campaign, it's important that the campaigns have different outreach types when the profiles are being added:
If using a CSV β choose the correct campaign type before uploading.
If sourcing from the Social Platform β the profile type is set when the search task is processed (when new profiles are first added to your campaign).
Filtering by Outreach Type in Inbox
The Inbox allows filtering messages by channel β you can view only email responses, or just Social replies.
