Intent Data: Uncover Your Most Promising Leads

Updated over a week ago

What’s Intent Data?

Intent Data is a new smart feature inside Buzz that helps you find people and businesses who are already looking for products or services like yours. It pulls together reliable data from our partners and combines it with our own tech to spot online behaviors that show real buying interest. That means you can focus on leads who are more likely to convert, saving time, energy, and budget.

What's the benefit?

Think of Intent Data as a way to spot companies researching your solutions before they even reach out — by combining insights of their internet activity with anonymized, privacy-compliant signals from a broad network of sites, you cut through the noise and focus on prospects actively in-market looking for a solution. With Intent Data from Buzz, your team can launch highly personalized campaigns to the prospects with peak interest, turning hidden opportunities into booked meetings and faster deals.

How It Works

Buzz scans the internet for signals that someone might be in the market: things like what they search for, what they read, what they post on social media, and even what tools they’re using. Our system keeps this information fresh by updating it daily and only showing you actionable leads from the past week, so you’re always working with up-to-date insights.

Intent topics are available for B2B and B2C sectors. B2B is available on Growth plan. B2B & B2C are available for Scale and Unlimited subscribers.

How to Set Up an Intent Data Search

  1. Create a campaign and click Add Search. From the left menu, choose Intent Data.

2. Pick the topics that your ideal customers might be interested in. Use the search bar to find them quickly or scroll through the list.

  • You can choose up to 30 topics.

Tip: We suggest keeping it to 1 or 2 topics so you can make your copy speak directly to these prospects.

Click Next to proceed to the second step.

3. (Optional) Add filters to narrow your results and find the best-fit leads.

  • If you’re using this feature for the first time, try keeping it simple. Using too many topics can make your audience too broad, while too many filters might make it too narrow.

❗️Please note that currently, Intent Data is only available to find prospects in the USA.

Click Next to review your data.

4. Check your settings and make sure everything looks right.

  • You can give your search a title. This part is optional, but it makes things easier to keep track of if you’re planning to create multiple searches.

  • If you need to remove any of the filters, just click the little “x” next to any topic or filter you want to remove.

  • Don’t forget to set the number of people you want to include in your search. You can set it up to 2,000 max per one Intent Data search.

  • If you want to go back a step and add some other criteria, click on the name of the section at the top or press Back at the bottom of the page.

5. Once you make sure that everything is set up correctly, click Save to add your search to the campaign.

After the campaign has been saved or launched, you can still view your search details anytime. Just open the campaign’s edit menu and click on the three-dot button next to the search > Edit to see its overview.

‼️ Once you save or run the campaign, you can’t edit the search — but you can rerun it or create a new search anytime.

Before saving your campaign, you can still edit or delete your search. Just click the three-dot menu to see the options:

Useful Tips

  • Planning to reach out via the Social Platform? Add a filter to target prospects who have 250+ connections — they’re more likely to engage.

  • If your initial search doesn't pull in thousands of prospects, don't worry: the search will automatically run every few days and add new prospects that match the search criteria you identified.

  • Use your enrichment credits — enriching these prospects will help identify additional connection methods like email and phone numbers. Using Buzz, you can add those steps into one campaign to ensure you are attempting to connect with your ideal prospects through multiple channels. This can also help keep your CRM information up to date.

  • Play with the filters to hone in on the client type you win the most with. Note that if we do not have the information on the prospect, it can exclude them from the search. However, becoming familiar with these can help supercharge these campaigns and give you the power to hypercustomize your messaging.

  • You may already be connected with some of the prospects we pull. When first running the campaign, check to see if anyone is automatically showing in the connected area. If so, these people are already your first-degree connections. If you would like to remove them from the campaign, click the Connected tag on the campaign, select the prospects you want to remove, click Action at the top of the screen, and choose Remove from the campaign. This will ensure these prospects are not contacted.

Intent Data helps you focus on people who are already showing interest in what you offer. With a bit of setup, you can run more targeted searches and make your outreach more efficient. It’s a simple way to work smarter and connect with the right people.
